Accessibility Statement

unwritten.health is designed to be usable by everyone, including people using assistive technologies. This page documents our commitments, known limitations, and how to report an accessibility issue.

Target level: WCAG 2.2 AA Statement prepared: 23 July 2026 Last review: 23 July 2026 Actively maintained

Our commitment

Unwritten Health is regulated healthcare's patient experience data company. Making our own website usable to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities, sits directly on the mission line. We are committed to conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, Level AA across every page under our direct control.

Where a page falls short, we treat it as a defect and prioritise remediation. Accessibility is not an optional layer on top of the site. It is part of the definition of "done".

What we have done

  • Semantic HTML with <main>, <nav>, <footer> and <section> landmarks on every page.
  • Skip-to-content link on every page, keyboard-navigable and visible on focus.
  • Language declaration (lang="en-GB") on every page.
  • Clean heading hierarchy: single H1, appropriate H2 to H4 nesting.
  • Focus-visible outline styling on all interactive elements, meeting WCAG 2.4.11.
  • Colour palette selected to meet AA contrast for body text on cream and charcoal backgrounds.
  • Cookie consent banner is keyboard-dismissable and does not trap focus.
  • The Regulatory Readiness Scorecard is fully keyboard-operable, saves progress to localStorage, and does not require a login.

Known limitations

We are transparent about where we know we fall short. These items are on our remediation queue.

  • Some decorative SVG diagrams do not yet have descriptive text alternatives beyond a short alt attribute. We are working on longer-form descriptions for screen-reader users.
  • The eyebrow label ("UNWRITTEN HEALTH · THE EQUITY ENGINE") at small size on cream background is borderline against AA contrast; we are evaluating a slightly darker green or larger type.
  • Historical blog articles inherited from earlier site versions have not been individually re-audited. Report any specific article that presents a barrier and we will fix it.
  • Line length in some paragraphs exceeds the recommended 60 to 75 characters on wide desktops; we are constraining body-copy containers as we work through each page.

Testing and compatibility

The site has been tested with:

  • Screen readers: VoiceOver on macOS, NVDA on Windows.
  • Browsers: current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
  • Keyboard-only navigation.
  • Colour-contrast checkers.

Where a specific assistive-technology combination surfaces an issue, please report it via the contact route below.

How to report an accessibility issue

If you find something on this site that is not accessible, or if you would like a document in an alternative format, please write to us at accessibility@unwritten.health. We aim to acknowledge every report within 5 working days and to provide a remediation plan within 15 working days.

You can also write to the postal address at the bottom of this page.

Enforcement

The Equality Act 2010 places duties on organisations providing public-facing digital services in the United Kingdom. If you have contacted us about an accessibility problem and are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) at equalityadvisoryservice.com.

Continuous improvement

This statement is reviewed at least twice a year, and after any material site release. It is versioned alongside the site.
