Evidence for your equality impact assessment, from people who look like your population.

When a service, letter, portal or pathway changes, you need to show who was consulted and what changed, and an assessor will ask first about the people who are hardest to reach. Here's what we can and can't do.

What we can do

Put the letter, the portal page, the pathway description or the campaign in front of members who live with the condition, broken down by age, sex, ethnicity and deprivation, and report what they raised, what you changed and what you didn't, in a form you can attach to the assessment or a board paper. We work alongside your patient participation groups and Healthwatch, not instead of them, and we'll say so in the report.

Cut to your area

Members are profiled by the first part of their postcode and by deprivation from the Index of Multiple Deprivation, so we can tell you how many people with a condition we hold in your footprint and in the most deprived fifth of areas. Ask for that in the free panel check before you commit anything. The smallest area we report on is the postcode district, the first part of the postcode such as M4 or SW17, which is smaller than any ICB, so we can build up to your footprint from there.

The nine protected characteristics

The panel holds age, sex, ethnicity, gender and sexuality as standing fields, plus deprivation and other conditions. It doesn't yet hold disability, religion or belief, pregnancy and maternity, gender reassignment, or marriage and civil partnership. We screen for some of these on request; for the others, your existing groups are the right route, and the report will say which is which.

Price

For one letter, one portal page or one pathway change, the £500 one-document step is open to NHS teams: ten matched members, cut to your area where we hold them, and a short report you can attach to the assessment. A pilot on a whole service change or campaign is £7,500. Both plus VAT. Before anything starts we quote working days and hold to them.
